Why ReGenerate Whidbey?

Rooted in place, guided by relationship, growing through listening.

Whidbey Island is home to countless people and organizations already doing good — protecting our waters, restoring the land, and strengthening our community.

We don’t need another nonprofit. What we do need is connection.

ReGenerate Whidbey exists to be a connecting resource — a regenerative space where we can discover each other, share what we’re learning, and weave our strategies together so that collectively, we can turn what we have into what we need.

The Listening Project

Our first step is simple — to listen.
We’ve launched the Listening Project to hear from you.

There’s just one question:

Why regenerate Whidbey?

—or if you prefer—

What are your dreams for Whidbey Island?

There’s no wrong way to answer. Share what matters most to you, and together we’ll weave your voices into a shared story — the collective voice of Whidbey.

The Case for ReGenerating Whidbey

Here’s the first summary of what we’ve heard so far from our Listening Project responses:

Regenerate Whidbey is about restoring balance—ecological, cultural, and relational—by rooting our lives in place and community.

As an island with a finite aquifer and fragile ecosystems, Whidbey cannot afford fragmented approaches; we must weave our many efforts into coherence.

Guided by values of reciprocity, humility, and right relationship, we embrace bioregionalism as a path to resilience, cultural repair, and planetary regeneration.

Now is the time to act—drawing on Indigenous wisdom, grassroots energy, and our unique human scale—to make Whidbey a living model of how local action can inspire global regeneration.

How We’re Summarizing What We Hear

As answers come in, we use a transparent process of group consensus building to identify shared themes and insights. This helps us listen as a community — not just as individuals — and see where our values align and where our creativity can flourish.

1️⃣ Collect & Listen
We gather responses through our open form and community dialogues.

2️⃣ Summarize & Reflect
We use AI-assisted consensus tools to synthesize insights clearly and accessibly.

3️⃣ Share & Grow Together
Our summaries help everyone see the emerging story of Whidbey’s regeneration journey.
